I've just got On Demand and was wondering a couple of things:- 2. When downloading at what percentage complete can I start watching the programme? I find that On Demand programmes are usually playable after 2% has been downloaded, which takes only a few seconds on a decent broadband connection. I have BT Infinity 2 which has 70Mbps download speed but On Demand via Sky appears to be deliberately restricted to 27Mbps at most. Even so, it takes me only 5 to 10 minutes to fully download most programmes and as mentioned, I can start watching them if I wish within a few seconds. It might take someone 20 minutes to download 2% of a movie.they'll have to wait a hell of a lot longer than 2% to be able to begin watching. For SD programmes you should be able to start watching almost immediately. I think the playing HDD speed on HD programmes is higher than 3Mb/second so it will probably have to download most of the programme (which it does in the background) before it becomes 'Available' Which is the BIG advantage of the Sky method, it allows you to watch regardless of connection speed - simply because it buffers to the HDD. Most other methods are far inferior, because they have to cope with both HDD and non-HDD devices so don't buffer.

You can always use your computer of course. Would it be useful to try to organise some kind of table of people's experiences so folk might know how soon to expect their downloads to become available? I volunteer to try to collate it but remember we should be talking about how long something takes to become available to view and not how long it takes to fully download it. Even on fibre Sky Go will not max out your connection but then why should it. The great advantage of Sky's system is that it allows even those with the slowest of connection to play. This thread would be as good as anywhere to start it so here is my experience at two speeds - though the first was on the old Anytime+ and before I got fibre in April last year.
